Doherty Records Fastest Indoor time for 60m

Eoin Doherty ran the fastest indoor time for an Irishman in 10 years when he recorded 6.81 seconds when winning the silver medal behind Leon Reid at the National Senior Indoor Championships in Abbotstown last weekend.  Reid who also won the 200m last weekend recently transferred from Bath in England to Menapians in Wexford. The European U23 200m silver medallist in 2015 is presently awaiting approval from the IAAF to compete for Ireland.

Joseph Ojewumi also qualified for the 60m final but unfortunately could not taske his place in the blocks due to a hamstring injury. At the same Championships Simon Essuman and Sean Flanagan contested the 400m heats where they recorded times of 50.79 and 51.43 respectively.
