Relay Squad Combine Well at National Senior Championships

Our relay squad combined really well in the National 4 X 400m relay final at Morton Stadium on Sunday evening last. By far the youngest team in the line up the team comprised of eighteen year old Sean Flanagan who ran a superb first leg and held his own with much older seasoned athletes before exchanging the baton with seventeen year old Christopher Duffy who ran fantastic second leg before he exchanged with an unfit nineteen year old Mustafa Nasir who was called up at the last moment, and despite his best efforts fell back a few places before handing over to Joseph Lyons who ran a unbelievable anchor leg to bring the team from near the back of the field the to secure fourth place, which was less than half a second shy of the bronze medal position but set a new club record time of 3.24.78.

The previous day Luke Coleman competed in the 10,000m final where he recorded 35.44.9 before peter Fitzimons finished the 5000m heat in 17.04.11 while Simon Essuman ran 50.61 in his 400m heat.

Elsewhere, at the European Youth Olympics in GYOR, HUNGARY on this Wednesday 26th July where all eyes will be on Rhasidat Adeleke who has the potential to medal on the big stage is scheduled to take her place in the first round of the 200m at 10.30am. In her current form she should make the semi-final which is scheduled later in the day at 16.15 where her aim is to make the final the following day at the same time of 16.15 and hopefully stand proud on the podium.
