More Championship Success for Tallaght Athletes


 

Following recent successes at the first weekend of the Dublin T&F Championships Tallaght juvenile athletes added more titles when they competed on Wednesday last on home ground and in the uneven age relay championships in Santry on last Friday evening.

Jennifer Mc Adams secured her third middle distance title of the Championships when winning the U16 1500m with a time of 4.56 on home ground on Wednesday last. Others who competed well on the same evening were Jennifer Kinsella who finished 4th in the U17 1500m, Abbie Brennan who had a great run to finish 6th in the U14 girls equivalent, Nadia Uchime in the U15 girls and Caden Clifford who finished a very good 5th in the U15 boy race.

In the uneven age relays on Friday evening at Morton Stadium, Santry the U15 boys Moses Ikpefua, Quadri Lawal, Tai Wo Ogundipe and Kenny Ogundipe combined to win the 4 X 100m title in 50 seconds flat before the U16 girls team, Madeline Chan, Lauryn Mc Dermott, Aisling Mc Guinness and Rhasidat Adeleke combined to win the U17 title with a time of 50.9.

At U19 degree the combination of Christopher Duffy, Michael Michael Ogunsiakan, Daniel Soyemi and Jide Adiguns won silver in the 4 X100m and 4 X 400m contests.

Many of the young athletes will again be competing on Friday evening next in Irishtown Stadium where they will be contesting the Even Age Relay Championships where they will endeavour to add to the medal haul and secure National qualification.

Elsewhere, a number of senior athletes contested the Irish runner 5 miler in the Phoenix on Saturday last where Luke Coleman was the first to cross the finish line for the club in 27:29 folliowed by Liam Cullen 29:52, Dermot Delany 30:22, David O'Brien 31:25, Billy Loughman 31:49, Dave Meehan 32:47, Stephen Kavanagh 35:18, Suzanna O'Callaghan 41:54 and Ciara Forrester 43:40 and a number of weeks earlier Laura Mc Donnell who was competing in her first ever Marathon finished 5th overall of the 379 competitors in the Walled City Marathon in Derry with a time of 3.13.31.
